BtcForecaster: self-calibrating price forecasting
A live service that forecasts the likely range of the Bitcoin price 1, 4 and 24 hours ahead, then publishes how often it was right.
- Retrains itself every night. A volatility model (HAR-RV-J) is refitted automatically on the latest 90 days of market data, and its ranges are recalibrated against the last one to two weeks of real outcomes.
- Automation with guard-rails. Every retrain is checked before it goes live. A bad fit is rejected, the previous model stays in service, the refit is retried, and the site falls back to a baseline model by itself if needed.
- Measured honestly. Models were chosen on one period and tested once on five months of unseen data: the same 90% hit rate as the baseline with ranges up to 12% narrower. The live track record is published openly.
- Built to run unattended. Background ingestion from several market-data APIs with fallbacks, alerts to Telegram, and a token-protected status page for monitoring.
